
A WebQuest for Adult Learners: a report on a Biology course

Abstract
This article describes the development and implementation of a long term WebQuest on a EFA (Education and Training of Adults) course. The objectives of the study were: a) to understand the key aspects to be taken into account in the implementation of a WebQuest; b) to examine the relations processes of cooperation and collaboration between peers of the working group; c) to verify whether the WebQuest encourages motivation and commitment of adults to learning and even, d) if the use of WebQuest helps to educate citizens for the twenty-first century. For the data collection we used different instruments: observation, diary and two questionnaires. Results show that the WebQuest stimulated the development of skills of cooperative work and collaborative learning, enhanced knowledge acquisition, encouraged the trainees to acquire computer skills helping to make them active citizens prepared for critical decision-making essential in the global society of the 21st century.
