Back to Basic: Aesthetic Experiences with Literature and Discovering the World

In this article, the author shares a current analysis of data that complements findings from earlier, related research that confirms the emotional aspects of reading experiences. The data from the earlier study is based upon comments by graduate students in online discussion groups, where they share their thoughts about the professional readings from the course. The data that the author focuses upon in this article is based upon the graduate students' writing as they share their personal responses to literature. Excerpts from the written responses of six teachers are also presented.
