
Investigating the Impact of a Site-based Educational Technology Course in Teacher Education

Abstract
Despite the comprehensive body of research on field experiences in teacher education, one specific area of inquiry lacking substantial current research is that of site-based technology-focused training for preservice teachers. To address this gap, this pilot study is being conducted to better understand how a site-based educational technology course that takes place within the authentic context of an elementary school might influence preservice teachers’ perceptions. Findings from this pilot study (n=8) suggest that this particular site-based educational technology course positively impacts preservice teachers’ perceptions of teaching, learning, and technology. More importantly, results provided the necessary substantiation to grow the teacher education program’s site-based approach to teacher education and continue offering technology-specific early field experiences.
