Abstract

The authentic integration of Information Technology (IT) is rarely conducted in middle and high school classrooms. Squeak Etoys, a computer modeling environment, offered as an elective course has the potential to link STEM concepts together through student produced computer models and simulations strengthening student understanding. Participants will learn basic Squeak Etoys skills and interact with student generated models and simulations that were developed during elective classes. Professional development activities designed to prepare teachers to deliver successful Squeak Etoys elective classes will also be discussed.
