Abstract

This presentation is intended for instructional design experts, particularly those interested in tailoring online course quality assurance instruments and processes for their unique institutional contexts.

Presentation Sections:

  1. Framing the Problem: The eSchool designs and manages all US Air Force OPME online courses. As of 2020, the courses were not consistently developed using a commonly held set of design best practices or quality standards. Consequently, the courses exhibit notable deficiencies across multiple aspects of online course design.

  2. Creating a Solution: We developed an evaluative instrument, the Course Design Quality Checklist (CDQC) to establish an institutionally supported baseline for online course quality in the eSchool.

  3. Importance and Relevance to a Broader Audience: Our CDQC project provides a unique perspective for those seeking to develop quality assurance standards and processes for their online programs, particularly those who have unique institutional characteristics and needs.
