Teacher’s Roles in Blended Learning and Case Method Environments

Abstract. The pedagogical framework of this case study consists of a combination of the blended learning model and the case method didactic strategy. The study is aimed at determining and confirming the roles played by a teacher in a mixed environment. The results suggest that the proposed roles include the teacher’s performance as a tutor, facilitator, expert, and planner. During the research work, the teachers review and ratify each one of their roles, including remarks that emerge from the teacher’s task in those environments. Furthermore, the pedagogical experience is described as enriching and stimulating, because it opens the study area towards the automation of repetitive activities that add less value to their task, thereby allowing them to focus on the most necessary and relevant aspects.
