Abstract

The proposal outlines the experience of the “Online Professional Development for Teacher Educators” from the Organization of American States.Through active discussion and practical activities, participants from different countries learn ways to bring collaborative technology and 21st century teaching and learning into their practice. Teacher educators from 10 Caribbean countries and 5 Latin American countries participated in the pilot editions of the online course. In august 2009 a formative evaluation was carried out. Taking into account the feedback of the project stakeholders, the course was refined and will be offered in a large scale to teacher educators in the Americas, through the OAS Portal of the Americas platform. Teacher educators who finish the online course, become a part of the Inter-American Teacher Educators Network as they remain networked in pedagogical dialogues and engage their students, the future teachers, in collaboration across borders.
